Chelsea Art Walk June 2011
Our first "Scarecrows in the Garden" Exhibit was a smashing success thanks to our gardeners, friends and generous community sponsors. Almost every gardener created a scarecrow. A class of local high school artists designed and exhibited two, one of which was sold! Local artist Michael Limberakis mounted a colorful garden sentry high atop the fence. But most surprising, all the way from NYC, came Ariana Hellerman and her sculpture "Rise UP.'

"Rise UP" was conceived, designed and created in Maine, but most recently lived in New York City. Ms. Hellerman believed that "Rise UP" was a perfect sculpture for a community art exhibit. She jumped at the chance to participate in exhibit in the Chelsea Art Walk after spying our Call to Artists on the Internet.
"Rise UP" traveled by bus from NYC to Boston, then hopped on the 111 bus and trekked to Chelsea. Thanks to the generosity of the artist, "Rise UP" cheerfully greeted all who entered our garden for five months, from June 10 to November 22, when she packed up for the winter and journeyed home to NYC.
