5th Annual Quilt Raffle to Benefit the Garden's Projects
June 13 and 14, 2015
Gardener Angela Panarese
In 2011, one of our newest garden members, Angela Panarese, volunteered her extensive expertise to help with the garden's fundraising. She created a patchwork quilt for raffle at the 2nd Annual Open House, October 1, 2011. Since then, she's contributed one of her beautiful handmade quilts each year for our QUILT RAFFLE. Her inspiration has helped us raise the funds to purchase new compost for the garden beds and to buy the materials for our new shade shelter to be constructed by Youth Build/Just A Start students in 2015.
Angela is a member of the Chelsea Senior Center's Quilting group "The Empty Spool Quilters". (click here to read article in Chelsea Record) The group has been meeting weekly for many years now to sew quilts for babies in the Intensive Care Unit of the Boston Medical Center and other programs.
Many, many thank yous to Angela, and to gardener and artist Eveyln HInde who has donated her beautiful jewelry each year, and to the local merchants who have contributed to our ANNUAL QUILT RAFFLE and Scarecrow's in the Garden Exhibit at the Chelsea Art Walk: Ricky's Flower Market in Somerville, Mahoney's Garden Centers, DeMoula's Market Basket, Compare Supermarket in Chelsea, East Boston Shaw's Market, Everett Super Stop and Shop, Trader Joe's in Saugus, Kayem, Kirshon's, Chelsea Home Depot, Dunkin' Donuts Everett Ave, Chelsea High Art Department and Interact Club and numerous creative gardeners.
