Sunday April 3, 2011 - Work day
Joe's Strawberry Bed Project
After a fun, but grueling workday moving soil on Saturday, a few intrepid souls came forth on Sunday to help Joe with the strawberry bed project along the Hawthorn St. fence - and to continue newspapering and mulching the paths and common areas.
Thanks to Enesa, Rob, Lyston, the ROCA crew, and David Rudolph for their patience and endurance and for working the entire day to get the strawberry bed structure finished.
Thank you Joe for your initiative. perseverance and community spirit. The gardeners look forward to enjoying a fabulous strawberry crop next June.
Mulching Paths
On Saturday, Bala. Saugut and Dilly all came at the end of the day to help with the newspapering and mulching. They joined Lyston, Roberta and Rick who spent the afternoon mulching away. The whole Christmas clan lent a hand too.
On Sunday, Roberta and Rick came back for more, bless their hearts. Shawn and his friend Albino really threw their backs into it and Margaret did her part slowly but surely.
A goodly area of the garden's paths got papered and mulched.
BUT... there's still mulch (:{) to be done.
Enesa, our 2011 Garden Groundskeeper would encourage anyone in need of exercise to come down anytime. Her goal is to get all the spring cleanup finished before spring planting gets underway. An ambitious goal, but drop by any time in April for an hour or so to help achieve it.
